Munson Army Health Center will be closed, Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of the Labor Day federal holiday. After hours and on federal holidays, beneficiaries may call the MHS Nurse Advice Line at 1-800-TRICARE (874-2273). Nursing staff who support the NAL phone lines can assist beneficiaries with non-life-threatening medical concerns and provide further guidance. Beneficiaries experiencing a medical emergency, such a severe shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, should call 911.

School Physicals

Is your child required to have a physical? It's typically needed for: Any child aged 8 or younger entering Kansas schools for the first time. Any child participating in school-organized sports. Any child participating in Fort Leavenworth's organized youth sports programs. Important Note for Missouri Residents: School physicals are NOT required for students attending Missouri schools. You'll only need current proof of immunization, which is easily accessible through the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal or from Munson's patient administration section. To schedule a school or sports physical, call Munson's appointment line weekdays from 7:15 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. at 913-684-6250.

Artificial Intelligence helps Munson health care provider focus more on patients, less on screens

For Mikaela Altis, a physician assistant in Munson Army Health Center’s Department of Primary Care, adopting ambient listening technology has meant more eye contact with patients, more time for follow-up questions and fewer hours spent completing clinical notes after the workday ends.

Munson Army Health Center offers Combat Lifesaver training for area units

Munson Army Health Center will offer its next Combat Lifesaver course Aug. 24-28, providing active-duty, Army Reserve and Army National Guard Soldiers with skills to deliver lifesaving care when medical personnel are not immediately available.

After completing a blood draw, Sgt. Felicia Wells, a medical laboratory specialist at Munson Army Health Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, places a dressing around the arm of Capt. Blake Cremin, company commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Company 329th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, out of Parsons, Kansas, Feb. 19. Soldiers from the 329th traveled to Munson to complete annual medical readiness processing to ensure the unit remains medically ready to answer the nation’s call

Munson open house offers MEDPROS updates, medical in-processing Aug. 12

Service members can complete select individual medical readiness requirements and receive medical in-processing support during Munson Army Health Center’s open house Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. Walk-in MEDPROS services will be available for vision, hearing, HIV and immunization requirements, giving service members an opportunity to address outstanding items before the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College academic year begins. Medical Records personnel will also be available to support any remaining newly arrived service members with medical in-processing.
