The health center will close at noon, Thursday, Dec. 5, for quarterly training, and Friday, Dec. 13 for a command function. This includes pharmacy, dental, the Armed Forces Wellness Center, and walk-in services like vaccines, lab and radiology.

Primary Care

Munson Army Health Center offers primary care to active-duty service members, retirees, and their family members reflected in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS). Primary care is first-contact care for persons with any undiagnosed sign, symptom, or health concern. Primary care includes health promotion, disease prevention, health maintenance, counseling, patient education, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses. All appointments for Primary Care are scheduled through our appointment line. DoD ID cards are required for beneficiaries aged 10 and older.

Who is on Your Care Team? 

  • Primary Care Manager (PCM)—is the individual you selected or was assigned to you when you registered with Munson for your care. This individual may be a Medical Doctor (MD), a Physician Assistant (PA), or a Nurse Practitioner (NP). 
  • Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)—and/or Medics who are assigned to work specifically with your PCM.
  • Registered Nurse (RN)—person assigned to work specifically with your PCM.
  • Other Specialists—persons who work with all teams and are available to provide guidance regarding your care such as a Clinical Pharmacist, a Nutritionist, and Case Manager.
  • YOU—the Patient, who is at the center of this TEAM. You can assist your team in providing the best possible care by communicating your health history, current medications and by practicing self-management goals.


Meet our providers. Munson offers virtual and face-to-face appointments. Some services may need a referral from the patient's Primary Care Manager. 

Walk-In Services

The following service are available on a walk-in basis during the times indicated:

Immunizations

Located on the 3rd floor of Munson Army Health Center. Check-in from 7:45 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Patients receiving an Immunization are advised to remain in the clinic 30 minutes following an injection in case of allergic reaction. This also applies to parents of children who are under 18 years of age who have received an injection. Parents cannot leave their children unattended, in case of a possible emergent treatment requiring parental permission.

Seasonal Influenza and COVID Vaccines are also available without an appointment Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m.

Save time and complete your screening form before you arrive. Do not fill in the Part II or Part III Section. 
Travel vaccines are not walk-in. 

Blood Pressure Checks

Blood Pressure Checks are done on the 3rd floor. You must have a doctor's order in your records to have a walk-in check. Patients can arrive at the 3rd floor front desk anytime from 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. (except for the lunch hour 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.) Please tell the front desk clerk that your provider requested for you to get a blood pressure check. The front desk clerk will look into your electronic medical record (MHS GENESIS) for the order. The team nurse will come out and bring you back to the exam room to perform a blood pressure check. It will then be recorded in the electronic medical records for your doctor to see it.
 

Contraceptive Services

The contraceptive clinic is open Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-3 p.m.  Unmarried dependents under 16 years need parental consent in accordance with Kansas state law.

  • Birth control pills
  • Emergency Contraception (Plan B) in the pharmacy.
  • Depo-Provera Injections (After initial Depro-Provera). The initial Depro-Provera injection is a procedure and patients must have an appointment first. Call 913-684-6250.
  • Condoms
  • Spermicides
  • Vasectomy preoperative evaluations

Pregnancy Testing

For a urine pregnancy test, go to our lab (located on the first floor of Munson). The results will be available in the patient's record and to the patient's provider, who will disclose the results to the patient.  In accordance with federal regulations, the lab may not disclose the results to the patient.
